Bruce Muskrat is a graduate of Baylor University (Waco TX) where he earned a BM degree in Piano Performance. He also earned a MM degree in Conducting, and a DMA degree in Music Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Ft. Worth TX). While studying at SWBTS he received Academic Achievement Awards (1976, 2001). During 1978 he did additional study at the Instituto de la Lengua Española, San José, Costa Rica.

Prior to his appointment to BHCTI in March 2006, he was Administrative Support Leader for the Argentina Baptist Mission, Buenos Aires, Argentina, serving as a missionary under appointment of the International Mission Board, SBC. Dr. Muskrat was Professor of Church Music (1978-2002) and Director of the Church Music Department (1983-93) of the International Baptist Theological Seminary (Buenos Aires, Argentina). He has served as organist and Minister of Music in churches in Waco and Fort Worth TX, and Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He has led workshops, presentations, and conferences on worship, missions, and music ministry in addition to an extensive concert and recital outreach ministry in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and the United States. Dr. Muskrat has published translations of a number of textbooks and other resources related to music and worship, in addition to published choral music. He was a member of The Centurymen (1972-77), and served as orchestral conductor for the Buenos Aires Billy Graham campaign (1991) and the Baptist World Alliance (1995).

Dr. Muskrat and his wife Nancy have three children: Daniel and wife Sara, grandsons Luke and Ben and granddaughter Claire; Andy and wife Heather; Amy and husband Danny Bihl II, and grandson Caleb.
