During the first week of November 2007, BHCTI awarded 464 Diplomas to students in Céspedes, Cuba. The students had completed requirements for the Diploma in Christian Ministry. Reader's Certificates were presented to 357 other students in Camagüey. Drs. Bruce Corley and Stan Moore were present for the historic event.
BHCTI held classes in Havana during the week of September 22-29, 2007. Dr. Justice Anderson, Distinguished Fellow and Professor of Missiology and Church History at BHCTI, and Dr. David Fite, former missionary to Cuba, taught the intensive seminars on Baptist Heritage and Pastoral Leadership.
According to Jeff Byrd from Park Cities Baptist Church (Dallas), coordinator for the trip, the week was a "wonderful success" and the "Cubans benefitted greatly from their interactions with Drs. Fite and Anderson" who were "effective in their teaching." More weeks of intensive seminars are scheduled during 2008.
